Apple dumplings
Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened - 1 2
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar
- butter - 1 item
- water - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- Crisco - 3/4 c
- white sugar
- apples, cored - 1 item
How to make apple dumplings:
Syrup:2 c. white sugar2 c. water1/4 tsp. cinnamon1/4 tsp. nutmeg butter Dough:2 c. flour2 tsp. baking powder3/4 c. Crisco1 tsp. salt1 c. milk Brown Sugar Mixture:1/2 c. brown sugar1/2 tsp. cinnamon1 or 2 Tbsp. butter, softened Syrup: Combine syrup ingredients in small saucepan and cook over medium heat until hot.Dough: Combine dough ingredients and mix well. Divide into 6 balls.
Brown Sugar Mixture: Mix brown sugar with cinnamon and butter. Press a small amount into cored section of apple. Roll ball of dough large enough to fit around apple. Place in baking pan. Cover completely with syrup. Bake at 375° for 35 minutes. Lower temperature and bake longer if needed.
