- sugar - 1/4 c
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- water - 3/4 c
- lemon juice
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- sliced, peeled apples
- Sweet Biscuit Crust follows - 1 item
- flour
- baking powder
- butter or oleo - 1/4 c
- milk or low-fat milk - 1/4 c
- egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
How to make apple cobbler with sweet biscuit crust:
Sweet Biscuit Crust:1 1/4 c. flour1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar1/4 tsp. salt1/4 c. butter or oleo1/4 c. milk or low-fat milk1 egg, slightly beaten Cobbler: In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch, salt and cinnamon. Slowly stir in the water and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Add lemon juice, butter and apples. Cook for 2 minutes. Prepare the sweet biscuit dough. Place the warm apple mixture in a shallow 2-quart baking dish. Top with biscuits and bake at 400° for 25 minutes. Serve hot. Makes 6 servings.Crust: Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in butter to resemble coarse crumbs. Combine milk and egg, add dry ingredients, stirring with a fork until it forms a soft dough. Knead 7 times on floured board; roll out to 1/4-inch thickness, cut out biscuits with 2-inch cutter.
