  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • oil
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • chopped unpeeled apples - 3 c
  • Karo light syrup - 1 Tbsp
  • orange peel - 1 tsp
  • chopped walnuts if desired - 1 c
  • Mix in the apples and walnuts
  • orange juice to thin - 2 3

How to make apple cake:

Beat the first 3 ingredients well, then beat in the baking soda, orange peel, salt and flour. Mix in the apples and walnuts. Bake at 350° in a greased and floured Bundt pan for 50 to 55 minutes. Cake is done when toothpick comes out clean. Invert onto rack after cooling for 10 minutes. Serve plain or iced.Icing:2 c. confectioners sugar1 Tbsp. Karo (light) syrup1 tsp. orange peel2 to 3 Tbsp. orange juice (to thin) Makes enough to drizzle over top of cake.
