  • sugar - 1/3 c
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • self-rising flour - 5 c
  • Crisco - 3/4 c
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg

How to make angel flake biscuits:

Put yeast into 1/4 cup warm water; mix. Add Crisco and sugar. Alternate flour and milk. Mix well and knead flour into mixture. Roll out and cut with a biscuit cutter; set aside and let rise 1/2 hour, until double in bulk. Bake at 400° until brown.
