Ingredients/Components

  • sour cream - 1 item
  • ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • cloves garlic, minced - 4 item
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • olive oil - 1 Tbsp
  • ground cumin - 2 tsp
  • cayenne pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • chicken stock - 4 c
  • shredded Monterey Jack cheese - 2 c
  • cans Great Northern beans, rinsed and drained - 3 oz
  • cooked chopped chicken - 3 c
  • cans green chilies or jalapenos - 2 1/2
  • chopped chilies or jalapenos - 1 item

How to make white chili:

In Dutch oven, cook onion and garlic in olive oil until tender but not brown. Stir in cumin, oregano, cayenne and cloves. Cook 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in beans, chili peppers and stock. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes. Stir in chicken and heat through. Ladle chili into bowls. Top each with 1/4 cup cheese. Dollop with sour cream and sprinkle chilies or jalapenos.
