Vinegar pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- eggs, separated - 2 item
- vinegar - 4 5
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- hot water
- oleo - 1 Tbsp
- 8-inch baked pie shell - 1 item
How to make vinegar pie:
Mix 1 1/4 cups sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Stir in water, vinegar, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick. Remove from heat. In a small dish, beat egg yolks into a small amount of mixture, then add this back to the saucepan. Return to heat and cook 3 minutes more. Pour into the pie shell. Cool. In a medium bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar; gradually add the other 1/4 cup sugar. Beat until stiff.
