Tiramisu
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- eggs, separated - 6 item
- heavy cream - 1/2 c
- brandy - 1/2 c
- Mascarpone cheese - 1 lb
- strong Espresso coffee
- shaved semi-sweet chocolate - 5 oz
- Italian Amaretto biscuits or macaroons - 24 item
How to make tiramisu:
Whip the cream until firm and place in refrigerator. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar and continue beating until stiff. Refrigerate.In a large bowl, beat egg yolks until fluffy. Blend in Mascarpone and brandy. Fold in egg whites, then whipped cream. Place in refrigerator.
Line the bottom of a shallow 10-inch bowl with the Amaretto biscuits or macaroons and soak them with the Espresso, using a brush. Spoon 1/3 of the Mascarpone on top, then 1/3 of the chocolate. Repeat 2 times. Refrigerate 6 to 8 hours before serving. Serves 8.
