Ingredients/Components
- vanilla
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- egg yolks - 2 item
- shortening - 1 c
- egg yolk - 1 item
- finely chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- + 2 Tbsp - 1 c
- egg whites, slightly beaten - 2 item
- Roll dough into walnut sized balls
How to make thumbprint cookies:
Beat ingredients together. Roll dough into walnut sized balls. Roll in slightly beaten egg whites, then roll in finely chopped nuts. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Make thumbprint in each cookie. Bake in 350° oven for 10 to 12 minutes.Frosting:1/4 c. + 1 tsp. butter or margarine1 c. + 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar1 1/2 tsp. vanilla1 egg yolk Mix frosting ingredients well and fill cookie thumbprint when cookies are cooled.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cookie and brownie, Hand Formed cookies.
