  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1/4 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • powdered sugar
  • dark unsweetened cocoa - 1/4 c
  • dark cocoa - 2 Tbsp
  • strong brewed coffee or water - 1 c

How to make texas brownies:

Frosting:1/2 c. butter1/4 c. milk1 tsp. vanilla2 Tbsp. dark cocoa3 1/2 c. powdered sugar In a bowl, combine the flour and sugar. In saucepan, combine butter, shortening, coffee or water and cocoa. Stir and heat to boiling. Pour boiling mixture over the flour and sugar in the bowl. Add the buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla. Mix well. Pour into a buttered 17 1/2 x 11-inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes. While brownies bake, prepare the frosting.

In a saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa and milk. Heat to boiling, stirring. Mix powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. Pour over brownies. Cool. Cut into 48 bars.
