Sweet and sour pork
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- butter or margarine - 4 Tbsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1 c
- vinegar - 3 Tbsp
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- diced celery - 1 c
- can bamboo shoots - 1 item
- lean pork tenderloin - 1 lb
- 1 can mushrooms
- 2 can crushed or chunk pineapple
How to make sweet and sour pork:
Cut pork into 1/2-inch squares; boil in water with salt until it turns white. Remove and fry in margarine until brown. Combine celery, onion, mushrooms and bamboo shoots; cook in 2 tablespoons of butter for 5 minutes. Add pineapple; bring to a boil. Combine sugar, cornstarch, vinegar and soy sauce. Cook until thickened, then add to other ingredients and place into a covered baking dish. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Serve with rice, potatoes, noodles or fettucine.Note: Wild rice is exceptionally good.
