Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • butter or margarine - 4 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1 c
  • vinegar - 3 Tbsp
  • soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • diced celery - 1 c
  • can bamboo shoots - 1 item
  • lean pork tenderloin - 1 lb
  • 1 can mushrooms
  • 2 can crushed or chunk pineapple

How to make sweet and sour pork:

Cut pork into 1/2-inch squares; boil in water with salt until it turns white. Remove and fry in margarine until brown. Combine celery, onion, mushrooms and bamboo shoots; cook in 2 tablespoons of butter for 5 minutes. Add pineapple; bring to a boil. Combine sugar, cornstarch, vinegar and soy sauce. Cook until thickened, then add to other ingredients and place into a covered baking dish. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Serve with rice, potatoes, noodles or fettucine.

Note: Wild rice is exceptionally good.
