  • sugar
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • all-purpose flour
  • miniature marshmallows - 1 c
  • solid shortening - 1/2 c
  • frozen sliced strawberries in syrup, thawed - 2 c

How to make strawberry shortcut cake:

Grease bottom of 13 x 9-inch pan. Sprinkle marshmallows evenly on bottom of pan. Mix thawed strawberries and syrup with Jell-O; set aside.

In large bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Blend on low until moist; beat 3 minutes. Scrape sides of bowl often.

Pour batter evenly over marshmallows in pan. Spoon strawberry mixture evenly over batter. Bake 40 to 50 minutes at 350°. Serve warm or cold with ice cream or whipped cream.
