Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 tsp
  • cooking oil - 4 tsp
  • onion - 1 item
  • grits - 1 c
  • other vegetables optional - 1 item
  • whole mustard - 1 tsp
  • ginger piece - 1/2-i item

How to make spicy grits:

Pour oil in a pan. When heated, put mustard in; cover pan until mustard splutters. Decrease heat; fry onions, vegetables and ginger. Add 2 to 2 1/2 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Add salt. Simultaneously, in a different pan, fry (roast) the grits until golden brown. Add the grits, while stirring constantly, to the first pan. Cover pan and let simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
