Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 1 1
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- chili powder - 1 2
- chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
- small onion, chopped - 1 item
- chopped tomatoes - 1 c
- rice - 1 c
How to make spanish rice:
Melt shortening in skillet. Add rice; lightly brown over low heat. Add onion and green pepper; stir. Add tomatoes, water, salt and chili powder; bring to a boil. Turn heat down to medium or lower; cover and let simmer for about 15 minutes. Uncover and remove from heat. Serves 4 to 6.Recipe categories: Low protein, Low fat, Side dish.
