Spanish rice
Ingredients/Components
- brown sugar - 1/3 c
- butter - 4 Tbsp
- garlic salt - 1 tsp
- tomato juice - 2 qt
- lean ground beef - 2 lb
- uncooked rice - 2 c
- medium onions, chopped - 2 item
- small can tomato paste - 1 item
- large green peppers, chopped - 3 item
- large can tomatoes - 1 item
- pinch of salt and pepper - 1 item
How to make spanish rice:
In a large skillet, brown beef. Drain grease. Set aside. Saute onions and green peppers. Add to beef.In a small skillet, lightly brown rice in butter. Add to beef, then add tomato paste, tomatoes and tomato juice. Heat over medium heat to medium-high heat until it bubbles a little. Then stir. Sprinkle in salt, pepper, garlic powder and brown sugar. Stir. Let simmer over medium heat for 1 hour.
