  • vanilla extract
  • sour cream - 1 c
  • flour - 3 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • margarine, softened - 1 c
  • lemon extract - 1 tsp
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • cream cheese, softened - 3 oz
  • Frosting - 1 item
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition

How to make sour cream pound cake:

Cream shortening, margarine and sugar in mixer bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and sour cream, beating well after each addition. Stir in flavorings. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours. Cool in pan for several minutes. Invert onto serving plate. Spread frosting over cake. Yield: 16 servings.Frosting:1/2 c. margarine, softened3 oz. cream cheese, softened1 (1 lb.) pkg. confectioners sugar juice of 1 lemon Cream margarine and cream cheese in mixer bowl until light. Add confectioners sugar gradually, beating until fluffy. Stir in lemon juice.
