Somen salad
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 1 tsp
- oil - 2 Tbsp
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- vinegar - 1/2 c
- soy sauce - 1/2 c
- sesame oil - 4 tsp
- head lettuce, finely shredded - 1/4 item
- white sesame seed - 2 Tbsp
- kamaboko - 1 item
- somen 5 bundles - 1 pkg
- cooked ham or pork char-siu - 1 c
- stalks green onions, finely sliced - 3 item
How to make somen salad:
Sauce:1/4 c. sugar1 tsp. salt2 Tbsp. white sesame seed1/4 c. oil4 tsp. sesame oil1/2 c. vinegar1/2 c. soy sauce Boil, rinse, drain and cool the somen as directed on package. Cut up ham or pork char-siu and kamaboko in matchstick pieces; finely slice green onions and set aside, separately. Fry the eggs in several thin sheets, using oil to keep from sticking. Cut into thin strips. Layer the somen in a 9 x 13-inch pan or platter; garnish it with lettuce, kamaboko, meat, green onions and eggs. Mix the ingredients for sauce, pour in a bottle and shake well. Pour over the somen when ready to serve. Serves 8 to 10 people.Recipe categories: Salads, Main dish, One Dish meal.
