vanilla - 1 tsp
sour cream - 1 c
salt - 1/2 tsp
flour - 4 c
nutmeg - 1 tsp
soda - 1 tsp
baking powder - 1 tsp
shortening* - 1 c

How to make soft sugar cookies:

*A mixture of Crisco and margarine is suggested for the cup of shortening.

Cream shortening with nutmeg, salt and vanilla; beat in sugar and eggs. Mix and sift the flour with other dry ingredients. Mix with creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Chill dough overnight as this is a soft dough. Place cookies on greased cookie sheets and bake in hot oven at 450° for 8 to 10 minutes.
