Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
  • granulated sugar - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • cream of tartar - 1 tsp
  • butter or soft shortening - 1/2 c

How to make snickerdoodles:

Cream the shortening and sugar together. Add beaten egg. Sift the dry ingredients into the egg mixture. Stir the mixture. Cover the mixing bowl with a plate and put in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 400°. Break off a bit of the cold dough and roll into a ball. Roll each ball in the dish of cinnamon and sugar. Bake for 10 to 20 minutes.
