Shrimp etouffee
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- water
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- chopped celery - 1/4 c
- green onions, finely chopped - 1 item
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- bay leaves - 2 item
- can tomato puree - 1 1/2
- whole thyme - 1/2 tsp
- to 4 minced garlic cloves - 3 item
- cleaned raw shrimp 2 lb - 3 c
How to make shrimp etouffee:
In large skillet, saute onion, green onions, garlic and celery in butter until tender. Add flour, cook and stir until lightly browned. Add water, tomato puree, bay leaves, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce and seasonings. Simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally for 25 minutes or until sauce is almost of desired consistency. Add shrimps and continue cooking 15 minutes. Serve with parsleyed rice. Makes 4 to 6 servings.Recipe categories: Main dish, Shrimp, Crab.
