Ingredients/Components
- flour
- brown sugar - 1 c
- baking soda - 3/4 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening
- molasses - 1 c
- hot water - 3/4 c
- pie crust - 1 item
How to make shoo-fly pie:
Topping:1/4 c. shortening1 c. brown sugar1 1/2 c. flour In mixing bowl, beat egg, then add molasses, water and baking soda (dissolve baking soda in water). Place liquid in pie crust.Topping: Mix ingredients and sprinkle on top of liquid mixture. (Some of the topping could be mixed with liquid for a more cake-like pie, if desired.) Bake 15 minutes at 400°, then lower heat to 350° and bake for another 20 minutes or until done.
