Ingredients/Components

- milk - 1/2 c
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- self-rising flour - 1 to
- softened butter - 4 Tbsp
- Put flour and salt in bowl
How to make scones:
Set oven at 425°. Put flour and salt in bowl. Add butter; cut into pieces. Rub butter and flour together with your fingertips until mixture looks like bread crumbs. Stir in sugar. Press and squeeze the dough together with your hands until a firm ball is formed. Gently roll out the dough until it is 3/4-inch thick. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters dipped in flour. Put Scones on greased cookie sheet and brush with milk. Bake 12 to 15 minutes until risen.Variations: A Scone Round: Flatten dough into a 1-inch thick circle. Score top into eight wedges, then brush it with milk. Bake for about 25 minutes.Fruit Scone: Add yellow raisins (1/2 cup) to mixture after sugar.
Cheese Scone: Replace sugar with 1/2 cup grated cheese before adding milk.
