Sauerkraut chocolate cake
Ingredients/Components
- margarine or butter - 2/3 c
- sugar
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- unsweetened cocoa - 1/2 c
- sifted all-purpose flour
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- water - 1 c
- rinsed, drained and chopped sauerkraut - 2/3 c
- whipped cream frosting - 1 item
How to make sauerkraut chocolate cake:
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour 2 (8-inch) square or round baking pans. Thoroughly cream margarine with sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift together cocoa, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add dry mixture. Stir in sauerkraut. Spoon into prepared baking pans. Bake about 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool. Spread with whipped cream frosting. Makes 8 servings.To make frosting, whip 1 1/2 cups heavy cream that has been well whipped with 3 tablespoons sugar. Makes about 3 cups.
