Sauerkraut casserole
Ingredients/Components
- packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- water - 1 c
- caraway seed - 2 tsp
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- snipped parsley optional - 1 item
- can sauerkraut, drained - 1 oz
- apples, peeled and quartered - 2 item
- mild Italian sausage links, cut into 1-inch slices - 1 lb
How to make sauerkraut casserole:
In a skillet, cook sausage and onion until sausage is brown and onion is tender. Drain. Stir in apples, sauerkraut, water, brown sugar and caraway seed. Transfer to a 2 1/2-quart baking dish. Cover and bake at 350° for 1 hour. Garnish with parsley, if desired. Yields 6 to 8 servings.Recipe categories: Main dish, Casseroles, One Dish meal.
