Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • almond extract - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • sticks butter - 2 item
  • cake flour - 3 c
  • rum extract - 1 tsp
  • coconut extract - 1 tsp
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each

How to make rum cake:

Cream together butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Add milk, dry ingredients and extracts. Beat well. Bake in greased and floured tube or Bundt pan for 1 1/2 hours at 350°.Glaze:1/2 c. sugar1/4 c. water1/4 tsp. almond extract Mix ingredients and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and brush on cooled cake.
