Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- stick margarine - 1 item
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- self-rising flour
- red food coloring - 2 oz
- box powdered sugar - 1 lb
- Wesson oil - 1 c
- Add eggs
- crushed pecans if desired - 1 c
How to make red velvet cake:
Mix oil and sugar. Add eggs. Mix vinegar with buttermilk and add dry ingredients. Alternate with milk. Add vanilla and food coloring. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Makes 3 layers.Icing:8 oz. cream cheese1 lb. box powdered sugar1 c. crushed pecans (if desired)1 stick margarine1 tsp. vanilla Have cheese and margarine at room temperature.
