  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1 c
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • flour
  • cocoa - 2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • stick butter - 1 item
  • can milk - 2 Tbsp
  • Wesson oil
  • salt may be omitted - 1/4 tsp
  • Add eggs, one at a time
  • bottle red food color - 1 oz

How to make red velvet cake:

Cream oil and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add vinegar (sift together flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa). Add alternately with milk. Add food color. Divide among 4 (9-inch) layer cake pans. Bake in 350° oven until brown and cake's spring from sides.Cream Cheese Icing:1 (8 oz.) cream cheese1 (16 oz.) pkg. confectioners sugar2 Tbsp. can milk1 c. chopped pecans1 stick butter1 tsp. vanilla Melt butter and cream cheese. Add milk and flavor. Add sugar and mix well. Mix in nuts. Spread between layers and on top layer.
