  • red cabbage
  • 1/2 oz bacon fat or oil - 3 item
  • apples - 2 item
  • water - 1/2 pt
  • caraway seeds - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 2 tbsp
  • sugar to taste - 1 item
  • salt to taste - 1 item
  • tsp corn starch - 1 item
  • tbsp cold water - 1 item

How to make red cabbage:

Cut cabbage into 8 sections. Shred and cut into strips. Fry bacon. Add cabbage to the fat and cook for a short time. Add sliced apples, water and caraway seeds. Simmer until done. Season with vinegar, sugar and salt. Thicken the cooking liquid with the cornstarch and water.
