- red cabbage
- 1/2 oz bacon fat or oil - 3 item
- apples - 2 item
- water - 1/2 pt
- caraway seeds - 1 tsp
- vinegar - 2 tbsp
- sugar to taste - 1 item
- salt to taste - 1 item
- tsp corn starch - 1 item
- tbsp cold water - 1 item
How to make red cabbage:
Cut cabbage into 8 sections. Shred and cut into strips. Fry bacon. Add cabbage to the fat and cook for a short time. Add sliced apples, water and caraway seeds. Simmer until done. Season with vinegar, sugar and salt. Thicken the cooking liquid with the cornstarch and water.Recipe categories: Low protein, Side dish, Vegetables.
