Ingredients/Components

  • chicken broth - 6 c
  • garlic cloves, minced - 2 item
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • green pepper, diced - 1 item
  • can kidney beans, drained - 1 1/4
  • large carrot, diced - 1 item
  • potatoes, peeled and diced - 1 lb
  • can chopped tomatoes - 1 1/2
  • medium head cabbage, chopped - 1/2 item
  • smoked kielbasa, diced - 1 lb

How to make portuguese soup:

Combine all ingredients, bring to boil. Stir occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer until thick, about 2 hours.

Works well in crock-pot. Can be prepared 2 days ahead.
