Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/4 c
  • water - 1 c
  • vegetable oil - 1 Tbsp
  • cream of tartar - 2 Tbsp
  • food coloring - 2 tsp
  • white flour - 1 c
  • medium pot - 1 item
  • plastic bag or airtight container - 1 item

How to make play dough:

Getting ready: Mix flour, salt and cream of tartar in a medium pot. Add water, food coloring and oil.

Stir over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Don't worry if the mixture looks like a globby mess; it'll turn into dough!

When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot, turn off the stove and let it cool. Then take it out of the pot and put it on a floured surface. Squish it and punch it around and bit (kneading).

When you're done, put it in a plastic bag or airtight container and store in the fridge.
