  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • milk - 1/3 c
  • sour cream - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • butter - 1 c
  • water - 1 c
  • cocoa - 1/2 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • all-purpose flour
  • powdered sugar - 1 c
  • Peanut Butter Chip Frosting - 1 item
  • Grease and flour 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jellyroll pan

How to make picnic cake:

Heat oven to 350°. Grease and flour 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jellyroll pan. In medium saucepan, combine water, butter and cocoa. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture boils. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat; set aside. In large mixer bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Add eggs and sour cream; beat just until blended. Add cocoa mixture; beat just until blended. Batter will be thin. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire rack. Spread Peanut Butter Chip Frosting.Peanut Butter Chip Frosting:1/3 c. butter1/3 c. milk1 (10 oz.) pkg. peanut butter chips1 tsp. vanilla1 c. powdered sugar Use your favorite cake from a mix and bake according to the directions. (Mom always used her bread pan and made her cakes from scratch, although the mixes work well.) After the cake is done, leave in pan and cut into squares. Spoon the following dip recipe over the cake.
