- eggs - 3 item
- granulated sugar
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- lemon extract - 1 tsp
How to make peppernuts:
Move lower rack in oven up 1 notch. Beat eggs, sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add milk and dry ingredients alternately. Drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheets and bake in 450° about 8 minutes or until slightly brown on top.Recipe categories: American, North american, Midwestern u.s..
