Peanut butter pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2/3 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- peanut butter - 1/2 c
- cream of tartar - 1 item
- egg yolks save whites - 3 item
- baked 9-inch pie crust - 1 item
How to make peanut butter pie:
Mix powdered sugar and peanut butter together until crumbly. Save a little of this mixture to sprinkle on pie before baking. Cook cornstarch, sugar, salt and milk in double boiler until mixture begins to thicken; add slightly beaten egg yolks and vanilla. Continue cooking until thick, stir constantly. Remove from heat and cool. Place peanut butter mixture in bottom of pie shell; add cream filling, then egg white with a little cream of tartar. Place over filling. Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes or until brown. If yoy double the recipe, it will make 3 (9-inch) pies or 2 (9 3/4-inch) or deep dish.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
