Oven beef stew
Ingredients/Components
- beef, cut into 1-inch cubes - 2 lb
- flour - 1/3 c
- salt - 2 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- oil - 1/3 c
- can tomatoes - 1 oz
- pkg - 1 oz
- can mushrooms, drained - 1 oz
- small whole onions - 10 item
- hot mashed potatoes - 3 c
- Velveeta pasteurized process cheese spread, cubed - 1/2 lb
How to make oven beef stew:
Coat meat with combined flour and seasonings. Brown in oil; drain. Combine meat, tomatoes, peas, mushrooms and onions; mix well. Pour into 2-quart casserole. Cover; bake at 325° for 1 hour and 45 minutes or until meat and onions are tender. Combine potatoes and process cheese spread; spoon around edge of casserole. Broil until process cheese spread begins to melt. Makes 6 to 8 servings.May substitute a 16 ounce can small whole onions (drained) for fresh onions.
