Old time beef stew
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- water - 4 c
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- bay leaf - 1 item
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- cup flour - 1/4 item
- medium potatoes, cubed - 4 item
- sticks of celery - 2 item
- medium carrots, cubed - 4 item
- stewing beef, cubed - 2 lb
- turnips - 1 c
How to make old time beef stew:
Brown beef in a mixture of first 4 ingredients. Boil water and add browned beef, vinegar, bay leaf, Worcestershire, and onion. Cover and simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add potatoes, carrots, and turnips. Cook 20-25 minutes.Recipe categories: Main dish, Beef, Stew.
