  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • flour
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • coconut - 1/2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • boiling water
  • margarine - 6 Tbsp
  • white sugar - 1 c
  • quick oats - 1 c
  • condensed milk - 1/4 c
  • Cream sugars and margarine

How to make oatmeal cake:

Stir together oats and water; set aside. Cream sugars and margarine. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients and add. Add vanilla and oats mixture. Bake in 13 x 9-inch pan or sheet pan at 350° until it tests done.Topping:1 c. brown sugar6 Tbsp. margarine1/2 c. coconut1/4 c. condensed milk1/2 c. chopped nuts Mix together over low heat until melted. Spread on hot cake and place under broiler one minute.
