Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • all-purpose flour - 1 c
  • firmly packed brown sugar - 1 c
  • raisins optional - 1 c
  • nuts optional - 1/2 c
  • uncooked oatmeal - 3 c

How to make oatmeal cookies:

Cream shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir into creamed mixture. Add oats, raisins and nuts. Mix well. Preheat oven to 350° and bake 12 to 15 minutes.
