  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • flaked coconut - 1/2 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • sifted flour - 2 c
  • light cream - 1/4 c
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each

How to make nutmeg cake:

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, nutmeg and salt. Add to creamed mixture with buttermilk. Bake in greased and floured 9 x 13 baking dish at 375° for 25 minutes.Topping:6 Tbsp. butter1/4 c. light cream1 c. brown sugar1/2 c. flaked coconut Combine butter, light cream and brown sugar; bring to boil. Pour over warm cake. Top with flaked coconut. Bake 5 minutes more.
