New england clam chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 3 c
- salt
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/4 c
- chopped celery - 1/4 c
- cans minced clams - 2 oz
- thyme - 1/8 tsp
- slices bacon, cut in 1/2-inch pieces - 3 item
- diced, cooked potatoes
How to make new england clam chowder:
Drain clams; reserve 1 cup liquid. Fry bacon in skillet until almost crisp. Add onion and celery. Saute until tender; drain. Combine bacon mixture, potatoes, clam liquid, salt, pepper and thyme in large saucepan. Simmer 10 minutes. Add milk and clams. Heat thoroughly. Do not boil. Top each serving with 1 teaspoon butter.
