Mushroom sauce
Ingredients/Components
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- tablespoons butter - 2 item
- tablespoons flour - 2 item
- cups sliced mushrooms - 3 item
- tablespoons minced onions - 2 item
- cup dry madeira or sherry - 1/2 item
- 10 1/2-ounce can beef broth or consomme - 1 item
- tablespoon butter, melted - 1 item
How to make mushroom sauce:
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in skillet over medium heat; add mushrooms and onion. Cook for 5 minutes. Add wine and cook 1 minute. Add beef broth and pepper; simmer 5 minutes, or until liquid is reduced to half. Mix 2 tablespoons flour with tablespoon melted butter. Add to sauce, stirring until sauce thickens. Season to taste.
