  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1/2 c
  • baking soda - 2 tsp
  • boiling water - 1 c
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • plus 2 Tbsp - 2 c
  • sour milk - 1/2 c

How to make midnight chocolate cake:

Cream the sugar and shortening. Add cocoa, eggs and sour milk. Mix well. Add flour. Mix. Add boiling water with baking soda and vanilla. Beat. Go heavy on wet ingredients. Light on dry ingredients. Bake 45 to 55 minutes at 350° in long pan or 8-inch.
