Ingredients/Components
- water - 2 c
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
- cans tomato sauce - 2 oz
- dried oregano leaves - 1/2 tsp
- ground round
- dried thyme leaves - 1/2 tsp
- dry onion soup mix - 1 pkg
- dried parsley leaves - 1 tsp
How to make meatballs:
Mix onion soup mix and water in saucepan; simmer 5 minutes. Pour 2 tablespoons of the tomato sauce into a cup; add garlic salt, thyme, pepper, oregano and parsley. Mix well. Add herb mixture to ground round and mix until blended. Add remaining tomato sauce to onion soup mixture.Shape meat into balls about the size of a small egg and place in a 2-quart casserole. Pour soup mixture over meatballs. Cover and refrigerate.
About 1 1/4 hours before serving time, heat oven to 350°. Bake casserole, covered, for 1 hour. If desired, serve over cooked rice. Makes about 20 meatballs.
