Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- flour - 2 c
- oil - 1/4 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- lukewarm water - 1 item
How to make maandazi:
Mix flour, sugar and baking powder. Heat oil until it is warm and pour over the flour mixture. Mix well. Use enough lukewarm water to make a very firm dough. Roll out to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with a small round cookie cutter or cut in pieces about 1 x 1 1/2-inches. Cook in hot oil.What you have is a small pastry, like a doughnut without a hole. Children in Kenya enjoy this with tea.
