Lemon sour cream pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- butter - 4 tsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- egg yolks - 3 item
- dairy sour cream - 1 c
- dash of salt - 1 item
- cream of tartar - 3 egg
- lemon juice - 1/4 c
- shredded lemon peel - 1 tsp
How to make lemon sour cream pie:
Combine sugar, cornstarch and dash of salt. Slowly stir in 1 cup milk. Cook and stir until mixture is boiling and thickened. Blend small amount of mixture into 3 slightly beaten egg yolks. Return to hot mixture. Cook and stir 2 minutes. Add 4 teaspoons butter, 1 teaspoon shredded lemon peel and 1/4 cup lemon juice. Cover and cool. Fold in 1 cup dairy sour cream. Spoon into baked 9-inch pastry shell.Beat 3 egg whites with 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Beat to soft peaks and add 2 tablespoons sugar. Spread meringue over pie. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown. Cool. Use whipped cream instead of meringue, it's "delicious."
