Lemon buttermilk pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 7 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- vegetable shortening
- plain flour
- lemon - 2 tsp
How to make lemon buttermilk pound cake:
Mix together shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add alternating with buttermilk, starting and ending with flour mixture. Add vanilla and lemon flavoring. Bake at 325° in a preheated oven 1 hour and 10 to 15 minutes. (Bake in a cold oven 1 1/2 hours.) Bake in a large tube Teflon pan; grease but do not flour pan. Let sit 10 minutes.
