Layered salad
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- shredded Cheddar cheese - 8 oz
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- celery, chopped - 2 c
- mayonnaise, thinned with 2 Tbsp - 2 c
- carrots, shredded - 2 c
- large green pepper, chopped - 1 item
- frozen peas, cooked and drained - 2 c
- crisp bacon, crumbled - 1 item
- Place in a large bowl
- head lettuce, dry well - 1 item
How to make layered salad:
Shred lettuce. Place in a large bowl. Layer onion, celery, green pepper, carrots and peas. Cover with cheese. Top with mayonnaise. Sprinkle with sugar. Keep refrigerated overnight. Sprinkle with bacon before serving.Variations: One small can water chestnuts (sliced) and 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise only.In memory of Mary Patterson.
One red onion, 1 cup sliced water chestnuts and 2 cups mayonnaise only.
