Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • shredded Cheddar cheese - 8 oz
  • onion, chopped - 1 item
  • celery, chopped - 2 c
  • mayonnaise, thinned with 2 Tbsp - 2 c
  • carrots, shredded - 2 c
  • large green pepper, chopped - 1 item
  • frozen peas, cooked and drained - 2 c
  • crisp bacon, crumbled - 1 item
  • Place in a large bowl
  • head lettuce, dry well - 1 item

How to make layered salad:

Shred lettuce. Place in a large bowl. Layer onion, celery, green pepper, carrots and peas. Cover with cheese. Top with mayonnaise. Sprinkle with sugar. Keep refrigerated overnight. Sprinkle with bacon before serving.Variations: One small can water chestnuts (sliced) and 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise only.
