Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 2 c
• eggs - 4 item
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• milk - 1/3 c
• salt - 1/4 tsp
• flour - 3 c
• cocoa - 1/2 c
• baking powder - 3 tsp
• Crisco
• margarine - 1 c
• sweet milk - 1 c
• confectioners sugar, sifted if lumpy

How to make layer cake:

Frosting:1/4 c. Crisco1/2 c. cocoa1/4 tsp. salt1/3 c. milk1 1/2 tsp. vanilla3 1/2 c. confectioners sugar, sifted (if lumpy) Cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Sift flour and baking powder together; add alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

Chocolate Frosting: Melt Crisco. Remove from heat and add cocoa and salt. Stir in milk and vanilla. Add chocolate mixture to sugar. Mix at medium speed until smooth and creamy. Add 1 teaspoon more milk for spreading consistency.
