Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/3 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- cocoa - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- Crisco
- margarine - 1 c
- sweet milk - 1 c
- confectioners sugar, sifted if lumpy
How to make layer cake:
Frosting:1/4 c. Crisco1/2 c. cocoa1/4 tsp. salt1/3 c. milk1 1/2 tsp. vanilla3 1/2 c. confectioners sugar, sifted (if lumpy) Cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Sift flour and baking powder together; add alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.Chocolate Frosting: Melt Crisco. Remove from heat and add cocoa and salt. Stir in milk and vanilla. Add chocolate mixture to sugar. Mix at medium speed until smooth and creamy. Add 1 teaspoon more milk for spreading consistency.
