Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 1/2 c
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • chopped parsley - 1/4 c
  • garlic clove - 1 item
  • jar thick spaghetti sauce - 1 oz
  • lasagne noodles uncooked - 8 oz
  • Ricotta or small curd cottage cheese - 2 c
  • shredded Mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese - 3 c
  • Parmesan cheese, for top - 1/2 c

How to make lasagne:

Brown beef in 3-quart saucepan. Drain fat. Add sauce and water; simmer for 10 minutes. Combine remaining ingredients, except lasagne noodles. Pour about 1 cup sauce in bottom of 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Layer 3 pieces uncooked lasagne noodles over sauce; cover with 1 1/2 cups sauce. Spread 1/2 of cheese filling over sauce. Repeat layers of lasagne, sauce and cheese filling. Top with layer of lasagne noodles and remaining sauce. Cover with aluminum foil and bake 55 to 60 minutes at 350°. Remove foil; bake 10 minutes longer. Allow to stand 10 minutes before cutting into servings. Serves 8 to 10.

Note: Lasagne noodles will expand in cooking to fill empty spaces.
