Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 Tbsp
  • water - 2 c
  • pepper
  • Parmesan cheese - 1 c
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • shredded Mozzarella cheese - 1 lb
  • parsley - 2 Tbsp
  • olive oil - 3 Tbsp
  • cans tomato paste - 3 oz
  • lasagna noodles - 1 lb
  • ground pork - 1 lb
  • clove garlic, pressed or minced - 1 item
  • 2 can Italian tomatoes about 2 1/2 c
  • Ricotta cheese or 1 large carton of cottage cheese - 2 lb
  • yellow cheese American or Colby - 1 lb

How to make lasagna:

Heat 3 tablespoons olive oil in a large deep skillet. Add onion and garlic. Cook until onion is transparent. Stir occasionally. Add ground beef and ground pork broken into small pieces. Cook until lightly brown. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, water, salt, pepper and oregano. Cook, uncovered, over low heat about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Put water, 2 tablespoons salt and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large saucepan and heat until boiling. Add noodles gradually and boil rapidly, uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes or until noodles are tender. Drain and rinse in cold water. Butter a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Then layer sauce, noodles and cheese ending on top with sauce. Heat in a 375° oven for 30 minutes. Serves 15.
