Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • salt
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • chili powder - 1 tsp
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/2 c
  • parsley flakes - 3 Tbsp
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded - 3/4 lb
  • cottage cheese - 3 c
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • basil - 1 tsp
  • onions, chopped - 3/4 c
  • lasagna noodles, cooked and drained - 8 oz
  • lean ground pork - 6 oz
  • can tomato pieces - 1 lb

How to make lasagna:

Cook and drain beef, pork, onions and garlic in large saucepan. Add tomatoes and sauce, 2 tablespoons parsley flakes, sugar, 1 teaspoon salt and basil. Bring to a boil stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 1 hour or until consistency of spaghetti sauce. Mix cottage and Mozzarella cheeses, 1 tablespoon parsley flakes, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and oregano. Reserve 1/2 cup meat sauce for topping. Make 4 layers of noodles, sauce and cheeses. Spread remaining sauce over top and sprinkle with Parmesan. (If desired, lasagna can be covered and refrigerated at this point.)

Bake uncovered 45 minutes at 350°. Allow 10 to 15 minutes more if refrigerated. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
