Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • 12 oz - 1 lb
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 1/2 c
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • parsley flakes
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • ground beef
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • lasagna noodles, cooked and drained - 8 oz
  • Mozzarella cheese, cut in strips - 3/4 lb
  • clove garlic, crushed optional - 1 item
  • carton creamed cottage cheese - 1 lb

How to make lasagna:

Cook beef, onion and garlic until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain off excess fat. Mix tomatoes and tomato sauce in blender and add to meat mixture. Stir in 1 1/2 tablespoons parsley flakes, the sugar and 1 teaspoon salt. Simmer, uncovered, 1 hour or until mixture is as thick as spaghetti sauce.

Heat oven to 350°. Mix cottage cheese, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon parsley flakes, 1 teaspoon salt and the oregano.

In large, oblong baking dish, layer half each of noodles, sauce, Mozzarella cheese and cottage cheese mixture. Repeat. Reserve enough sauce for a thin top layer. Spread sauce over top. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese. Bake, uncovered, 45 to 55 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.
